Design

I produce contemporary designs that are connected to the place they are built and to the people who enjoy them.

Resolve

Hugo Hardy Architect now is seeking to expand our commissions on the strong foundations built on the last 20 years of experience in Architecture, to include more new build projects of medium size, examples such as community centres, sports pavilions, churches or school buildings alongside ambitious new houses including Paragraph 80 homes in the countryside.

  1. Historic buildings that need renovating, sensitive repair and including a Client ambition for new elements of work.

Background

I studied Architecture at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam, Netherlands and at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. My main professors were Bryan Mackay Lyons and Talbot Sweetapple (Canadian gold medal winning Architects) and  Elia Zenghelis one founder of OMA (The Office for Metropolitan Architecture). At the Berlage I also had the opportunity to work with Andrea Branzi of Super Studio and Archizoom, Winny Mass of MVRDV and Wiel Arrets whom was director of the school. Many other talented Architects also contributed to my education.

After studies I worked at West 8 in Rotterdam on grand public projects such as the New Egyptian Museum in Cairo. For David Chipperfield Architects, the RIBA Gold Medal and Pritzker Prize winning practice, based in London, on prestigious cultural commissions and numerous competitions, followed by a fruitful period at Arup Associates and Arup Urban Design working on large scale development including Battersea power station and a new eco-city in Dongtang China .

After placing as a finalist in the coveted Europan competition for multiple housing, in Milton Keynes; I was asked to become a project leader on Schools by Andrew Armes then Head of Environment. During my time in Milton Keynes I oversaw the building of two schools. Returning to the city of London I then worked at Douglas Stephen and Partners and as the Senior Architect at Jonathan Tuckey Design, largely on bespoke residential work. I started my own practice in 2012.
